In the past, pollution was been visible on our beaches here in Santa Barbara. In 1969, a massive oil spill opened SB residents’ eyes to the importance of protecting the ocean. Almost 40 years later and Santa Barbara beaches have been continuously littered and contaminated. For example, in these last 7 years, Ledbetter Beach has had over 70 advisories and closings. Consequently, our goal is to make people aware that we must learn from our past and improve the beach’s quality.
