Pollination Station

About Us

Our background, goals and motivations

Why Are We Helping?

Eighty percent of US agricultural yield is dependent on bees. In the past 10 years, the US has lost 1/3 of its bee population. The Pollination Station will promote native pollinators and bees by educating the public and local schools, planting pollinator friendly gardens, and building beehive boxes to support local apiary education. We aim to raise awareness of the value of bees as pollinators of crops and producers of honey and wax for cosmetics, food and medicine.

Who Are We?

We are a completely student run organization which hopes to improve the condition of bees and other pollinators, and in turn, improve the condition of humanity. We are a group of students in Jose Caballero's AP Environmental Science (or APES) course at Santa Barbara High School. Here are our long term goals:

  • More native plant species
  • More community bee boxes
  • More community awareness of bees' condition and usefulness
