S.E.A. is a local student-based organization aimed at heightening awareness of the repercussions of sea level rise. If Greenland’s glaciers alone melt, the sea level could rise a maximum of seven meters. With one-half of the world’s population living near the coast, massive displacements of people, estuaries, and wetlands would take place. Thousands of coastal cities would be lost and millions of gallons of fresh water would be lost. Global temperature will increase to levels capable of melting Greenland’s glaciers would start melting by 2100.
